A Jim Behrle mention in an essay from the Book Review Desk at the New York Times.

Comments:
Jim is a great scenester, endearing himself through the commodity-byproduct of organizing the hundreds of readings. Nothing wrong with a little self-promotion. If the tousled writer schtick carries a little ways, and the connections carry a little more, one is certain to go far with their poetry, right?

I wouldn't say certain regarding much of anything in this world. The success of a writer is judged and propelled by many factors, quality of writing being only one, not always the first at that.

For the record, I like Behrle's poetry a lot and this was before I knew him personally and even moved into my neighborhood.

Hey, Michael--

I just found this snarky begrudge. What a weird compulsion, to bring my poems into question just because I was on the back page of the NEW YORK TIMES BOOK REVIEW.

I never hosted an event for Curtis--she interviewed me for a Salon article a while back. Should I feel sheepish that I hosted so many events for authors over the years? That was my job.

Good luck.
Jimmy
